To the right white has not done a blunder check and has allowed black to play knight to d4 with check.

A fork is where a piece, it can be a rook, a bishop, really any thing can fork, even a pawn attacks 2 pieces at once.

If your lucky then your opponent cant defend either of the pieces so then you win material!

Like in the image to the right its a check so the king is forced to move and blacks knight just wins a rook and later the game!

Forks are very powerful and knight are usually the piece that forks the most because of its odd movement people don’t realize they just fell into a fork!
